Step 1: Journal
Step 2: Mark It Up/Highlight Themes

I found two main categories within the lyrics of this song: worship and proof or result of worship. I then just listed out the words and the phrases that I felt represented worship. I love thinking about being in alignment with God and being the hands and feet of Jesus as being worship! The proof of worship I found were putting a smile on God's face, God signing his name to the end of my days, and that others see my love of God in my worship.
Step 3 & 4: Pulling Out Scripture

The first day of scripture, I focused on the lyrics, "May the words I say and the things I do make my Lifesong sing." I found six verses that pertained to and exemplify those lyrics, including Luke 6:45 "... for the mouth speaks what the heart is full of." The second day I focused on the lyrics "I want to sign your name to the end of this day," and "to reach a world in need." I also noted on the bottom of the page that poor refers to poor in spirit as well. Even the wealthiest person in the world needs to know Jesus.
Step 5: Creative Flow

This is the visual representation I created for "Lifesong." I love how the hymn becomes her whole person. She is literally composed of worship!
Step 6: Sealing

For "Lifesong" I chose to seal in my heart Psalm 19:14 "May these words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord my Rock and my Redeemer. I then looked at two different translations and noted the differences. This always gives me a deeper understanding of the intention behind the words. I then looked up some commentary and took some notes on words and thoughts that are acceptable to God and what it is to be pure. I also defined further the words rock and redeemer to lock in the idea of him as my great provider and place of refuge.
